Are you confused about what level of knife you require?

MARTOR has created a safety level chart that demonstrates how our knives differ from each other in terms of safety. Using this tool you will then be able to determine which knife is the best for your cutting task. You may find that you want to use all the levels of the safety chart or narrow down your tasks to a specific safety knife level that matches your safety goals.

Choosing the right tool is not just about giving one safety knife to every worker for all their cutting applications. If they use the wrong knife for the task, the knife is no longer a safe knife. It is critical that every worker knows about the safety knife levels and understands how to use each knife they have access to. Our levels go from level 1, the safest knives we offer, to level 5, the least safe.

Level 1 - Bladeless Safety Knives

Our safest knives are the bladeless safety cutters. Why? Because they do not have blades or sharp edges but are still able to cut and in some cases rip material where needed.

Level 2 - Concealed Blade Safety Knives

Our level 2 safety knives have blades but they are fully concealed from the user. They can easily cut material, but because the blade is concealed they cannot cut the user or the goods you are opening.

Level 3 - Fully Automatic Retraction Safety Knives

Level 3 safety knives are fully automatic retractable knives meaning the blade will retract back into the handle of the knife when it loses contact with the material being cut.

Level 4 - Automatic Retraction Safety Knives

Level 4 knives are semi-automatic retractable knives. They differ from the fully automatic safety knives as the user will need to remove their thumb off the slider when they start the cut in order for the blade to retract back into the handle.

Level 5 - Manually Retractable Knives

These knives are manually retractable or have a fixed blade. Level 5 knives include any fixed blade knives, such as steak knives and other common kitchen knives.
